We lit the heart in Fishtown in heartfelt thanks to everyone
who participated in #GivingTuesday.
We are still finalizing the totals and awaiting receipts of pledges, but we are thrilled to announce that we received nearly $90,000 in challenges and matching gifts on this global day of giving. The emails, phone calls, Facebook and Instagram messages and visits to the Fishtown office here in Leland have been inspiring. The heart in Fishtown will remain lit through the holiday season.
Four amazing donors came forward to match gifts that would help us secure Fishtown’s infrastructure – all part of the Campaign for Fishtown. These gifts will go towards saving the Village Cheese Shanty, Carlson’s Fishery and the Morris Shanty, fixing extensive drainage issues, and replacing all of the docks.
We appreciate everyone who donated and helped to spread the word.
Thanks to all of you for loving and supporting Fishtown.
Thank you, again — for helping us receive additional funding to literally lift Fishtown out of the water. For more information on the Campaign for Fishtown and what you can do to help, click here. We still need to raise $1,650,000 to complete the campaign projects. Please help us keep the momentum going until Fishtown is secured!
Special thanks to Maggie Revel Mielczarek, owner of Leland gal in Fishtown, for not only spreading the word to all her email contacts and friends on social media — but also for working with Andy Adkins and the crew at 730 Eddy Studios, located in Zeeland, Michigan, to create an amazing video focused on the high water issues, and seiches that Fishtown has dealt with since early spring of 2019. The video features many of Fishtown’s shop owners and employees, and also Fishtown Preservation executive director, Amanda Holmes. 730 Eddy Studios created and donated the video, including three short alternatives for posting on social media. Giving Tuesday, we all realized, was the perfect time to launch these light-hearted videos that convey the serious message that Fishtown needs saving. Click to watch the video.
