Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a business or display and sell your creative work in Fishtown? This summer, you can! Welcome to the Fishtown Art Shanty 2025, a pop up space where artists, craftsmen and makers can be an intimate part of the Fishtown experience for a week from late May through mid October.
Fishtown Preservation provides the space and eager visitors and you present your art, share your love of the area, find a new audience for your work, and get to be a part of the Fishtown community.
General Information
The 2025 Art Shanty is a 185 square feet (10 x 18.5) addition off the lower level of the Ice House. The space is furnished with a sales counter, shelves, and includes additional furniture and display pieces. The shanty is located between the Fishtown Welcome Center and Carlson’s large smokehouse. It has a south facing view towards the Leland River, along the main thoroughfare of Fishtown. This space can accommodate up to two artists or craftspeople at a time, though each prospective occupant must apply.
If you are interested, please fill out the Application – Art Shanty 2025 and submit to info@fishtownmi.org with subject line “2025 Art Shanty Application”. FPS will acknowledge the receipt of all applications, but acceptance does not guarantee approval. The occupants will be selected on a first come first served basis following approval of applications. We will keep a waitlist of qualified candidates in case of cancellations.
Occupancies begin on Tuesdays and end on the following Monday of each week, with check-in Tuesdays between 3:00 PM–5:00 PM and check-out is the following Tuesday by 11:00 AM. Occupancies will begin May 27 and go through October 13.
