We celebrated Joy this fall in Fishtown!
Sunday, October 29, 2017 • 1-3pm • $10 suggested donation
Thanks to more than 100 participants who joined us in Fishtown at the end of the fall season for our Comfort & Joy Party on Sunday, October 29. This group helped preserve Fishtown with Joy, Joy, Joy – in all its forms. Joy Lang Anderson served her delicious pasties, as her namesake, the fishing tug boat Joy, sat dockside across the river. We also introduced our new specially labeled sparkling wine ~ “JOY” ~ produced by L Mawby Vineyards.
Here’s a bit of back story. Joy Lang Anderson approached Fishtown Preservation with the idea of making and selling pasties to help preserve Fishtown, a place dear to her heart. The idea became a party, and Joy enthusiastically made more than 150 pasties for the event, launching a celebration for friends and family in Fishtown.
By coincidence, Fishtown Preservation had been working with Larry Mawby of L Mawby Vineyards to develop a label called “JOY” for a special sparkling wine, with $2 from every bottle donated to Fishtown Preservation. “JOY” wine is available for purchase at the Leland Mercantile (Leland), Hansen Foods (Suttons Bay), L Mawby Vineyards (Suttons Bay), and also online at LMawby.com – where shipping details are available.
Pairing these two Joys, along side our fish tug Joy, was reason enough to throw a party. When we added participants, other generous donations and volunteers – it became a celebration!
